Home: Web Monitored Alarm Systems
Notes on web monitored alarm systemsIs your home going to be empty for many days while you go out of station? That is when the house is vulnerable to looters. Here is a bunch of things to stop break ins. * The most sensible alternative is to have a sitter at home. Having someone at home is commonly safer than an empty apartment. Arrange for a relative or a friend to stay at your house for the time you are traveling. * Stop your mail and newspaper when you travel out of town. Unread newspaper and mail advertises that the home is deserted. * If you have potted plants that are visible get someone to water them. Alternatively remove the potted plants away from sight. Plants dying from lack of care suggest that the home is untenanted. * Use timers on the lights, radio and tv. Use timers to control lights in many rooms. The lights should be switched on and off in a natural sequence. For example turn on the living room lights at sunset. At your regular sleeptime the living room lights should go off and the bedroom lights should switch on. If you generally switch on tv at 7 pm and keep in on till 11 pm the timer must follow those timings. Though the lights are on the lack of light from the tv may lead to suspiscion that no one is actually home. * See if a neighbor can come in and check out your apartment on a regular basis. Doors being opened and closed and windows too gives evidence that somebody is home. * If you live on rent you might let the landlord know that you are going out of town. Your homeowner may want to watch over the house. * If you have installed an alarm system see that the house sitter knows how to run it. * Make it a point to see that the neighbor can reach you easily. The person keeping an eye on the house must be aware of who they should contact should there be a problem.
