If you ordinarily switch on tv at 8 pm everyday and have it on till bedtime have your timer do the same. Even with lights switched on the tv being turned off may reveal that the home is unoccupied.
* Get a neighbor to drop in and check on your apartment now and then. Windows being opened and closed etc indicate that the house is inhabited.
* If you rent the apartment or house you may want to let your landlord know that the home will be unoccupied. The landlord may want to watch over the house.
* If you have installed a security system make certain that the housesitter is aware of precisely how to use it.
* Ensure that the house sitter knows how to contact you. The person responsbile for checking into the house must know who they should notify should a problem arise.
