Home: Video Surveillance Security Signs
Essential facts about video surveillance security signsIs your house to be left unoccupied for some days or weeks while you vacation out of town? That is when your home tends to be vulnerable to housebreaks. Here are several specific things to do to defend your home. * The most advisable solution is to get a home sitter. Having someone stay at home is normally safer than an uninhabited apartment. Arrange for a friend to hang out at your apartment for the time you are traveling. * Stop the newspaper and mail when the apartment is empty. Piles of newspaper lying around calls attention to the fact that your house is empty. * If you maintain potted plants that are visible from the road arrange for them to be kept well. Alternatively move the potted plants away from sight. Plants dying from lack of care suggest that the home is unoccupied. * Use timers on the lights, radio and tv. Timers should be hooked to lights in multiple rooms. Set the timings of the lights so it looks as if someone is home. At sunset turn on the living room lights. Around your normal sleeptime the living room should have lights off and the lightsin the bedroom should switch on. If you usually turn the tv on at 8 pm and it stays on till bed time have the timer set accordingly. The living room light may be on but the absence of the tv might be enough evidence that this is an empty house. * See if a neighbor can drop in and check on your apartment on a regular basis. Doors and windows being opened are all signs that somebody is home. * If you stay at a rented home you might let the landlord know that you are going away for a few days. Your landlord may want to keep an eye on it. * If you use a security system see that the home sitter recognises exactly how to operate it. * Ensure that the neighbor knows how to contact you. The person checking on the house must know who should be informed if any issue should come up.
