* If you live on rent tell the owner that you are going out of town. The owner may want to check on the home now and then.
* If you have a security system installed make sure the homesitter is familiar with exactly how to operate it.
* Ensure that the house sitter knows how to contact you. The person checking on the house should be informed about who they should notify should there be a problem.
