Tips regarding video surveillance contractors

Is your apartment or home to be empty for days or weeks while you go on an outing? That is when it is vulnerable to thieves breaking in. Here are several specific things to do about it.

* The better alternative is to have someone stay at your apartment. An apartment where someone is staying is normally safer than a home that is not occupied. Check if you can get a friend or someone you trust to stay at your house while you are go away.

* Discontinue the newspaper and mail when you travel out of town. A mailbox that is overflowing or piles of newspaper tells potential burglars that the home is deserted.

* If you maintain potted plants or a garden have them maintained by someone. Or Else shift the potted plants where no one can see them. Plants dying from lack of care tell the observer that no one is home now.

* Use timers for tv and lights. Use light timers in more than one room. Set the timings of the lights so it looks as if someone is home. At dusk turn on the living room lights. When you normally go to bed put out the lights in your living room and the bedroom lights should switch on.

If you generally switch on tv at 7 pm and have it on till bedtime have the timer set accordingly. Though the lights may be switched on the tv being off can be a sign that your house is empty.

* Ask a neighbor to drop into your home now and then. Windows and curtains being opened and closed is evidence that somebody is home.

* If you stay in a rented house it may be a good idea to notify the owner that you will be out of station. The houseowner may want to check on the home regularly.

* If you have an active alarm system make sure the apartment sitter recognizes how to use it.

* See to it that the neighbor or house sitter can contact you. The person checking up on the apartment must be aware of who they should intimate should any issue crop up.
