If you turn on tv at 7 pm every day and it remains on till 11 pm have your timer do the same. The lights in the house may be on but the lack of light from the tv might give away that the home is unoccupied.
* See if a neighbor will drop in on your house regularly. Curtains and windows being opened signals that somebody is home.
* If you live on rent it may be a good idea to notify the owner that the house will be empty. Your homeowner may want to watch over it now and then.
* If you use a security system see to it that the housesitter recognizes how to handle it.
* Make certain that the house sitter can reach you easily. Whoever is checking on the home should be aware of who they should intimate should any issues come up.
