Home: The History Of Security Cameras
Facts about the history of security camerasIs your home or apartment to be empty for some days or weeks while you vacation out of town? That is when your apartment is most susceptible to burglars breaking in. Here is a bunch of things to do about it. * The best way out is to arrange for a house sitter. An apartment where someone is staying is almost always safer than a deserted home. Try to get a friend or relative to hang out at your home when you are traveling. * Stop your newspaper delivery and mail delivery when you travel out of town. Unread newspaper and mail tells potential burglars that no one is home. * If you have potted plants that are visible have them kept by someone regularly. Otherwise move the potted plants where they cant be seen. Plants dying from lack of care are a sign that the house is not occupied. * Put lights, tv and radio on timers. Use light timers in more than one room. Set the timers to make the light sequence look natural. The lights in the living room should switch on at sunset. When you normally retire the living room should have lights off and the lights in your bedroom should turn on. If you usually switch tv on at 8 and it stays switched on till its time for you to turn in have the timer set accordingly. The lights in the house may be on but the absence of the tv can indicate that the house is empty. * Get a neighbor to drop in on your house regularly. Curtains and windows being opened are indications that the house is occupied. * If you live on rent it may be useful to tell the landlord that you will be out of station. The houseowner may want to check on the home regularly. * If you use a burglar alarm system ensure that the homesitter is familiar with how it is to be worked. * Make sure you leave your contact details with the house sitter. Whoever is keeping tabs on the home should know who they should call if there is a problem.
