Information about texas laws on home security cameras

Is your home going to be empty for a few days or weeks while you go on vacation? That is the time it is vulnerable to being burglarized. Here are several specific things you can do about it.

* The top way to secure your home is to get a home sitter. A house where someone is staying is almost always safer than a house that is empty. Make arrangements for a relative or a friend to stay at your house when you are away.

* Stop the mail delivery and newspaper delivery when you go on vacation. A full mailbox or newspaper piled up is a sign that your house is empty.

* If you keep a garden or have potted plants that are visible arrange for them to be kept well. Or Else move the potted plants out of sight. Plants dying slowly tell passersby that the house is uninhabited.

* Use timers for radio, tv and lights. Use timers to control lights in many rooms. The lights should be switched on and off in a natural sequence. At dusk turn on the living room lights. When you go to bed the living room lights should be turned off and the lights in the bedroom should turn on.

If you generally switch on tv at 7 pm and you watch it till 11 pm the timer must follow those timings. The living room light may be on but the lack of light from the tv might be enough evidence that your house is empty.

* Find out if a neighbor will agree to drop into your apartment on a regular basis. Doors and windows being opened are indications that the apartment or home is occupied.

* If you live in a rented home perhaps you can tell your landlord that you are going out of town. The houseowner may want to watch over the house.

* If you have installed a home security system ensure that the apartment sitter recognises how it is to be used.

* See that the house sitter or caretaker can reach you. The person checking on the house must know who to call should a problem crop up.
