If you on the tv set at 7 pm most days and it remains on till 11 pm set your timer to that schedule. The lights in the house may be on but the absence of the bluish tv glow can give away that no one is actually home.
* Ask a neighbor to drop into your apartment or home often. Windows being open now and then mean that the house is inhabited.
* If you stay in a rented apartment perhaps you can let the owner or landlord know that you are going on vacation. Your landlord may want to check up on it regularly.
* If you have an alarm system installed ensure that the the person who is doing the house sitting recognises how it is to be run.
* Make it a point to see that you leave your contact details with the house sitter. Whoever is checking on the home should be aware of who should be informed should there be a problem.
