Tips regarding saskatchewan home securityIs your apartment or home to be empty for a longish time while you take a much needed break away from town? That is when it tends to be most susceptible to burglaries and housebreaks. Here are several specific things to do to make your home safer. * The best solution is to have a someone occupying the house. Having someone in is commonly safer than a home or apartment that is unoccupied. Check if you can get a relative or friend to remain at your apartment when you are traveling. * Temporarily stop newspaper delivery and mail delivery while you are on vacation. Mail spilling out of the mailbox tells everyone that the home is deserted. * If you have a garden or potted plants get someone to come in and water them. Alternatively ensure the potted plants are not visible from outside. Wilted plants are a clue that the apartment is empty. * Use timers for radio, tv and lights. Several rooms should have timers on lighting. Use a natural looking sequence for lights. The lights in the living room should switch on at sunset. When you normally go to bed living room should turn dark and turn on the bedroom lights. If you generally turn tv on at 8 pm most days and it remains on till midnight have the timer set accordingly. The lights in the house may be on but the absence of the tv glow can be a sign that the home is empty. * See if a neighbor will come in to your apartment or home often. Windows being opened and curtains being worked denote that the apartment or home is occupied. * If you stay at a rented home notify the owner that the apartment will be empty. Your houseowner may want to check up on it regularly. * If you have a security system installed make sure the person who is house sitting is aware of how to work it. * Ensure that the house sitter knows how to contact you. The person keeping an eye on the house must know who is to be informed should a problem crop up.
