* Arrange for a neighbor to drop into your home now and then. Doors being opened and closed and windows too is evidence that the house is not empty.
* If you rent the apartment or house let the landlord know that you are going on vacation. Your landlord may want to watch over the house.
* If you have installed a home security system make certain that the home sitter recognizes precisely how to operate it.
* Ensure that the house sitter or caretaker can reach you. The person keeping an eye on the house should be aware of who is to be informed should any problems come up.
