Tips and info about sabrent security systemsIs your house to be left unoccupied for even a few days while you vacation out of town? That is when your home tends to be most susceptible to looters breaking in. Here is what you can do. * The best way to defend your apartment is to get someone staying at home. A house where someone is staying is almost always safer than an uninhabited home. Make arrangements for a friend to live at your house when you are away. * Temporarily halt newspaper delivery and mail delivery when the house is empty. A mailbox that is overflowing or piles of newspaper tells potential burglars that the house is empty. * If you have a garden or potted plants arrange for them to be watered and kept well. Alternatively shift the potted plants where they are not visible from the road. Plants dying from lack of care show that the house is not occupied. * Use timers for tv and lights. Lights in multiple rooms should be on timers. Use a natural looking sequence for the lights. The lights in the living room should switch on at sunset. At the time you go to bed turn off the living room lights and the bedroom lights should be turned on. If you on the tv set at 7 pm most days and have it on all evening till bedtime have your timer do the same. Though the lights are on the lack of light from the tv can give away that the apartment or home is empty. * Ask a neighbor to visit your house frequently. Windows being opened and closed etc indicate that the home is inhabited. * If you live in a rented apartment tell the owner that you are going out of town. The houseowner may want to keep an eye on it. * If you have a burglar alarm installed see that the housesitter is comfortable with how to use it. * See to it that the house sitter knows how to contact you. Whoever is keeping tabs on the home must know who they should call should there be a problem.
