Home: Residential Wireless Security Systems
Essentials about residential wireless security systemsIs your house going to be unoccupied for some days or weeks while you and your family travel? That is when your apartment is most vulnerable to housebreaks. Here is what to do to deter thieves. * The best way out is to have someone stay at your apartment. A house where someone is staying is always safer than an unoccupied home. Try getting a trusted friend or relative to stay at home while you travel. * Discontinue the mail and newspaper when you go on vacation. Unread newspapers and an overflowing mailbox publicises that no one is home. * If you have potted plants that are visible get someone to water them. Otherwise ensure the potted plants are not visible from outside. Plants dying slowly are a clue that the apartment is empty. * Use timers to operate lights and tv. Timers should be hooked to lights in multiple rooms. The lights should turn on an off in a natural manner. Turn on the living room lights at sunset. At bedtime turn off the living room lights and the bedroom lights should be turned on. If you ordinarily switch on tv at 8 pm everyday and it is always on till you go to bed have the timer set accordingly. Though the lights are on the lack of the tv's bluish glow might be enough evidence that this house is unoccupied. * Get a neighbor to visit your house frequently. Curtains and windows being opened convey that the apartment or home is occupied. * If you stay in a rented apartment it may be a good idea to notify the owner that you will be out of station. Your homeowner may want to keep tabs on the apartment. * If you have an alarm system active make certain that the person who is house sitting is aware of exactly how to operate it. * Ensure that the neighbor can reach you easily. The person watching over the house must know who should be informed should any issue crop up.
