Notes about pursuit auto alarm systems
Is your house to be left unoccupied for more than a day or two while you go out of town? That is when your home is vulnerable to burglars breaking and entering it. Here is what to do to defend your home.
* The optimal defense for your apartment or home is to have a house sitter. Having someone stay at your home is almost always safer than an unoccupied apartment. Try getting a relative to stay at your apartment for the time you are traveling.
* Halt the mail and newspaper when the apartment is empty. Mail spilling out of the mailbox tells unlawful elements that your home is empty.
* If you maintain potted plants or a garden have them kept by someone regularly. Alternatively move the potted plants out of sight. Plants not being cared for inform housebreakers that the house is uninhabited.
* Use timers on the lights, radio and tv. Lights in several rooms should be on timers. The lights should turn on an off in a natural manner. For example turn on the living room lights at sunset. Around the time your retire turn off the living room lights and the lights in the bedroom should turn on.
If you turn on tv at 7 pm every day and it remains on till midnight have your timer do the same. The lights in the house may be on but the lack of the tv's bluish glow might be sufficient evidence that your house is empty.
* Get a neighbor to drop in to your home frequently. Windows and curtains being opened and closed points out that the apartment or home is occupied.
* If you rent a home you might notify the owner that you are going on vacation. Your landlord may want to check on the home regularly.
* If you use a perimeter protection or other security system ensure that the home sitter is comfortable with how it is to be run.
* Make certain that the neighbor or house sitter can contact you. The person responsbile for checking into the house must be aware of exactly who to call should any problems come up.
