Understanding panther alarm system
Is your apartment or home to be empty for sometime while you go on an outing? That is when it usually is susceptible to housebreaks. Here is a bunch of things to do to make your home safer.
* The top way to secure your home is to have a keeper or sitter at home. Having someone stay at your home is normally safer than a home that is not occupied. Try getting a relative or friend to stay at home at least during the nights for the time you are traveling.
* Stop your mail delivery and newspaper delivery when the house is empty. A mailbox that is full or newspapers lying around is a sure sign that the home is empty.
* If you have potted plants or a garden ask someone to maintain them. Otherwise move the potted plants where they cant be seen. Wilted plants tell passersby that no one is home now.
* Use timers for tv and lights. Lights in multiple rooms should be on timers. The timings for lights should look natural. For example turn on the living room lights at sunset. Around the time your retire the living room should have lights off and the lights in the bedroom should be switched on.
If you normally turn on the tv at 7 pm and have it on all evening till bedtime the timer must follow those timings. Though the lights are on the tv being off may lead someone to suspect that this is an empty house.
* Request a neighbor to come in and check out your apartment or home often. Windows and curtains being opened and closed indicate that the house is inhabited.
* If you rent the apartment you may want to notify your landlord that the apartment will be empty. The landlord may want to keep tabs on the home.
* If you have an alarm or protection system installed see that the homesitter is aware of how to use it.
* See to it that the neighbor or house sitter can contact you. The person watching over the house should be aware of who should be informed should there be a problem.
