* See if a neighbor can drop in on your home frequently. Windows being opened and closed etc gives evidence that somebody is home.
* If you rent a home or apartment tell the landlord that the home will be unoccupied. The houseowner may want to check on the home regularly.
* If you have installed a burglar alarm make sure the person who is house sitting is aware of just how to use it.
* Make it a point to see that the neighbor or house sitter can contact you. Whoever is watching over the home should be aware of who to call if any issue should come up.
