* See if a neighbor will drop in and check on your home regularly while you are away. Windows being opened and closed etc denote that the apartment or home is occupied.
* If you live in a rented home it may be useful to tell the landlord that you will be away. Your houseowner may want to check up on the home sometimes.
* If you use an alarm system make certain that the person who is house sitting recognises how it is to be used.
* See to it that the house sitter knows how to contact you. Whoever is watching over the home must be well aware of who they should call should a problem crop up.
