Home: Home Security Wireless Diy
Details about home security wireless diyIs your home going to be empty for sometime while you vacation out of town? That is when your home tends to be vulnerable to burglars breaking in. Here is what to do to deter thieves. * The best way to defend your apartment is to get a home sitter. Having someone stay at home is very likely safer than an uninhabited home. Try getting a friend to hang out at your home for the time you are away. * Discontinue the mail and newspaper when you travel out of town. A mailbox that is overflowing or piles of newspaper tells potential burglars that nobody is home. * If you have a garden or potted plants ask someone to maintain them. Alternatively move the potted plants away from sight. Plants wilting from lack of water are a sign that the home or apartment is unoccupied. * Use timers to work tv and lights. Use timers to control lights in many rooms. The lights should turn on an off in a natural manner. For example turn on the living room lights at sunset. When you go to bed the lights in the living room should turn off and turn on the bedroom lights. If you generally turn tv on at 8 pm most days and you watch it till 11 pm set your timer to that schedule. Even with lights switched on the lack of light from the tv might be enough evidence that no one is home. * Ask a neighbor to come in to your home now and then. Windows being opened and closed etc are indications that the house is occupied. * If you live in a rented home notify the landlord that you are going away for a few days. The landlord may want to check on the apartment or home regularly. * If you have installed a security system make certain that the person who is house sitting is comfortable with how to handle it. * Ensure that the neighbor can reach you easily. The person responsbile for checking into the house should be informed about who they should contact should any problems come up.
