Home: Home Security Systems Inexpensive
Findings related to home security systems inexpensiveIs your apartment or home to be empty for more than a day or two while you go on a holiday? That is when the house is open to housebreaks. Here is what you can do about it. * The most effective solution is to have a keeper or sitter at home. Having someone at home is usually safer than a home or apartment that is unoccupied. Arrange for a relative or friend to live at your apartment for the time you are away. * Temporarily halt mail and newspaper delivery while you are away. A mailbox filled to the brim tells potential burglars that your home is empty. * If you have potted plants or a garden get someone to come in and water them. Otherwise ensure that the potted plants are kept where they are not visible. Wilted and dying plants show that the home is empty. * Use timers for tv and lights. Lights in several rooms should be on timers. Set the timers to make the light sequence look natural. At dusk turn on the living room lights. Around your normal sleeptime living room should turn dark and the bedroom lights should be turned on. If you ordinarily switch on tv at 8 pm everyday and it remains on till midnight set your timer to that schedule. The lights may be on but the absence of the tv's light shining through might indicate that the home is unoccupied. * Ask a neighbor to drop in and check on your place often. Windows being open now and then are signs that the house is occupied. * If you live in a rented apartment notify the owner that the house will be unoccupied. The houseowner may want to check on the home now and then. * If you have an alarm or protection system installed see that the apartment sitter is familiar with how to operate it. * Ensure that the house sitter or caretaker can reach you. Whoever is checking on the home should know who should be informed should any problems come up.
