Home: Home Security Door Stop
Understanding home security door stopIs your house to be left unoccupied for many days while you take a much needed break away from town? That is when your apartment is susceptible to burglaries. Here are several things that will help you. * The top way to secure your home is to have someone stay at your apartment. A house where someone is staying is almost always safer than an empty apartment. See if you can get a friend to stay at home while you are go away. * Stop your mail and newspaper delivery when you go on vacation. Piles of newspaper lying around lets everyone know that your house is unoccupied. * If you keep a garden have them watered by someone. Alternatively shift the potted plants where no one can see them. Plants dying slowly are a hint that the house is uninhabited. * Timers on lights and tv will help. Use timers on lights in several rooms. Use a natural looking sequence for the lights. Turn on the living room lights at sunset. When you normally go to bed the living room lights should go off and the lights in your bedroom should turn on. If you normally turn on the tv at 7 pm and have it on all evening till bedtime the timer should do the same thing. Even with lights switched on the tv being turned off may lead to suspiscion that this is an empty house. * Find out if a neighbor will agree to drop into your apartment or home often. Windows and curtains being opened is evidence that the apartment or home is occupied. * If you live in a rented home let the owner know that the apartment or home will be empty. Your landlord may want to watch over it now and then. * If you have an alarm system active make it a point to see that the apartment sitter is comfortable with exactly how to operate it. * Ensure that the neighbor can reach you easily. Whoever is checking on the home must know exactly who to call should a problem crop up.
