If you turn on tv at 7 pm every day and it stays on till bed time the timer must follow those timings. Though the lights may be on the absence of the tv's bluish glow can indicate that this is an empty house.
* Request a neighbor to drop in to your house frequently. Doors and windows being worked are indications that the house is not empty.
* If you rent the apartment let the owner know that the house will be unoccupied. The owner may want to check on the home regularly.
* If you use a home security system see that the apartment sitter is comfortable with how to work it.
* See to it that you leave your contact details with the neighbor. The person watching over the house must know who is to be informed should any issue crop up.
