Lights in multiple rooms should be on timers. Use a natural looking sequence for lights. At dusk the lights in the living room should be turned on. When you go to bed put out the lights in your living room and the lights in the bedroom should turn on. If you generally turn tv on at 8 pm most days and it remains on till 11 pm have your timer do the same. The lights in the house may be on but the absence of the bluish tv glow may lead to suspiscion that the home is unoccupied. * See if a neighbor will visit your apartment or home often. Windows and curtains being opened and closed points out that the house is not empty. * If you live on rent you may want to let your landlord know that the apartment will be empty. The homeowner may want to watch over the house. * If you use a security system make it a point to see that the house sitter recognises just how to work it. * Make sure the house sitter or caretaker can reach you. The person keeping an eye on the house must be well aware of who should be informed should any problems come up.
