Tips regarding ge monitor home securityIs your home or apartment to be empty for many days while you go on an outing? That is when it is vulnerable to burglaries and housebreaks. Here is what to do to deter thieves. * The best way to defend your apartment is to get someone staying at home. A house where someone is staying is almost always safer than an empty house. Try to arrange for a relative to stay at your house when you are traveling. * Stop the newspaper and mail delivery when the apartment is empty. A mailbox that is full or newspapers lying around is a sure sign that no one is home. * If you have potted plants passersby can see ensure that someone waters them. Or shift the potted plants where they are not visible from the road. Plants not being cared for are a clue that the house is empty. * Put lights, tv and radio on timers. Several rooms should have timers on lighting. The lights should turn on an off in a natural manner. The timer should switch on the living room lights at dusk. At the time you go to bed the living room lights should be put out and the bedroom lights should switch on. If you usually switch tv on at 8 and it remains on till midnight the timer must follow those timings. Even if the lights are on the lack of the tv's bluish glow can indicate that the home is empty. * Arrange for a neighbor to drop in on your house regularly. Windows being opened and closed etc are signs that the home is occupied. * If you rent a home or apartment let the landlord know that you will be away. The houseowner may want to keep tabs on the apartment. * If you use any kind of security system make certain that the housesitter knows how to operate it. * Make sure you leave your contact details with the house sitter. Whoever is keeping tabs on the apartment should be informed about who they should contact should any issue crop up.
