* Request a neighbor to drop in on your house frequently. Windows and curtains being worked are all signs that the house is inhabited.
* If you stay at a rented home perhaps you can tell your landlord that the apartment will be empty. Your landlord may want to watch over the house.
* If you use any kind of security system make it a point to see that the house sitter is comfortable with just how to use it.
* Make certain that the house sitter or caretaker can reach you. Whoever is keeping tabs on the apartment must be well aware of who they should notify should any problems come up.
