Home: Employer Video Surveillance Policies
Notes about employer video surveillance policiesIs your home going to be empty for some days or weeks while you go on a holiday? That is when your apartment is vulnerable to burglars breaking in. Here is a bunch of things you can do. * The most effective defense is to get someone staying at home. Having someone at home is commonly safer than an uninhabited apartment. Try getting a relative to stay at your apartment when you are traveling. * Stop your newspaper delivery and mail delivery when you go on vacation. A mailbox filled to the brim tells potential burglars that the house is unoccupied. * If you potted plants visibly placed get someone to water them. Alternatively ensure that the potted plants are kept where they are not visible. Plants dying slowly are a signal that the house is uninhabited. * Use timers on the lights, radio and tv. Timers should run lights in several rooms. Use a natural looking sequence for lights. For example turn on the living room lights at sunset. Around the time your retire the living room lights should be put out and switch on the bedroom lights. If you normally turn on the tv at 7 pm and it stays on till bed time the timer must follow those timings. Though the lights are on the absence of the tv glow can give away that the house is empty. * Get a neighbor to come in and check out your apartment or home often. Doors and windows being opened mean that the apartment or home is occupied. * If you rent a home it is usually a good idea to tell the owner that you are going away for a few days. The owner may want to keep tabs on the home. * If you have an alarm system active ensure that the homesitter recognizes how it is to be worked. * Make certain that the neighbor knows how to contact you. The person watching over the house must be well aware of who they should intimate should a problem arise.
