* If you stay in a rented apartment you may want to notify your landlord that you are going on vacation. The houseowner may want to check on the apartment or home regularly.
* If you have installed an alarm system make sure the person who is house sitting recognises exactly how to use it.
* Ensure that the house sitter can reach you easily. Whoever is watching over the home should know who is to be informed should any problems come up.
