Tips about computer accessed video surveillanceIs your house to be left empty for a few days while you take a break out of town? That is when the home usually is vulnerable to burglars breaking and entering it. Here is what you can do. * The best defense for your home is to have a sitter at home. Having someone stay at your home is almost always safer than a home that is not occupied. Try to arrange for a friend to remain at your home for the time you are traveling. * Temporarily halt newspaper and mail delivery while you are away. Untouched mail and newspaper tells potential burglars that the home is deserted. * If you have a garden or potted plants have them kept by someone regularly. Or Else ensure the potted plants are not visible from outside. Untended plants are a signal that the house is uninhabited. * Use timers for radio, tv and lights. Put lights in several rooms on timers. The lights should turn on an off in a natural manner. For example turn on the living room lights at sunset. At bedtime living room should turn dark and turn on the bedroom lights. If you turn on tv at 7 pm every day and it remains on till midnight have the timer set accordingly. The lights may be on but the absence of the bluish tv glow may reveal that the house is empty. * Find out if a neighbor will agree to drop in on your home regularly while you are away. Doors being opened and closed and windows too indicate that the house is inhabited. * If you rent an apartment perhaps you can tell your landlord that you are going out of town. The landlord may want to keep tabs on the home. * If you have a security system installed ensure that the home sitter is familiar with how to work it. * See that you leave your contact details with the neighbor. The person responsbile for checking into the house must know who to call should a problem arise.
