If you generally turn tv on at 8 pm most days and have it on all evening till bedtime the timer should do the same thing. The lights in the house may be on but the absence of the bluish tv glow can be a sign that this is an empty house.
* Request a neighbor to come in and check out your house frequently. Windows and curtains being opened and closed gives evidence that somebody is home.
* If you rent the home you might let the landlord know that you will be away. The homeowner may want to check on the apartment or home regularly.
* If you have installed a security system make sure the housesitter recognises just how to use it.
* See to it that the neighbor can reach you easily. Whoever is keeping tabs on the home should be aware of who they should call if there is a problem.
