* Ask a neighbor to come in to your apartment on a regular basis. Windows and curtains being opened and closed convey that the house is not empty.
* If you stay at a rented home you might let the landlord know that the apartment or home will be empty. The landlord may want to watch over the house.
* If you have an active alarm system see to it that the the person who is doing the house sitting is aware of how to make it work.
* Make sure the house sitter knows how to contact you. The person responsbile for checking into the house should be aware of who to call should any issue crop up.
