Tips regarding car alarm systems audiableIs your home going to be empty for a few days while you holiday? That is when the house is susceptible to burglaries and housebreaks. Here is what to do to make your home safer. * The best way out is to have a house sitter. Having someone stay at home is usually safer than an empty apartment. Try to get a relative to hang out at your apartment while you go on vacation. * Halt your newspaper delivery and mail delivery when you go on vacation. Untouched mail and newspaper tells potential burglars that the house is unoccupied. * If you have a garden or potted plants get someone to maintain them. Or Else move the potted plants away from sight. Wilted and dying plants are evidence that the house is empty. * Use timers for tv and lights. Put lights in several rooms on timers. Use a natural looking sequence for lights. The timer should turn living room lights on at sundown. Around your normal sleeptime the lights in your living room should be switched off and the lights in the bedroom should be switched on. If you generally turn tv on at 8 pm most days and it stays switched on till its time for you to turn in set the timer accordingly. Though the lights may be switched on the absence of the tv may lead to suspiscion that this is an empty house. * Find out if a neighbor will agree to drop in and check on your home frequently. Windows and curtains being opened and closed denote that the house is inhabited. * If you stay in a rented apartment you might let the landlord know that you are traveling. Your houseowner may want to keep tabs on the home. * If you have an alarm installed make sure the house sitter recognizes how it is to be worked. * Make it a point to see that you leave your contact details with the house sitter. The person watching over the house must be well aware of exactly who to call should a problem arise.
