* Arrange for a neighbor to drop in and check on your home regularly while you are away. Curtains and windows being opened mean that the house is not empty.
* If you stay in a rented house perhaps you can let the owner or landlord know that the home will be unoccupied. Your houseowner may want to watch over the house.
* If you use a home security system see to it that the the person who is doing the house sitting is aware of how it is to be operated.
* Make it a point to see that the house sitter can reach you easily. The person checking on the house must know who to call if there is a problem.
