* Ask a neighbor to come in and check out your house regularly. Windows being open now and then gives evidence that somebody is home.
* If you rent an apartment notify the owner that you will be out of station. The owner may want to keep tabs on the apartment.
* If you have an alarm system active see to it that the home sitter recognises how to work it.
* Make it a point to see that the house sitter knows how to contact you. Whoever is checking on the home must be aware of who they should contact should any problems come up.
