* Request a neighbor to come in to your apartment on a regular basis. Doors being opened and closed and windows too is evidence that the house is inhabited.
* If you rent the apartment it may be a good idea to notify the owner that you are going away for a few days. The homeowner may want to check up on it regularly.
* If you have installed a security system make certain that the house sitter recognizes exactly how to operate it.
* See that you leave your contact details with the neighbor. The person checking up on the apartment should be informed about who they should fill in if any issue should come up.
