* If you stay at a rented home notify the owner that you are going on vacation. The owner may want to check up on the home sometimes.
* If you use an alarm system see to it that the home sitter knows how to make it work.
* Ensure that the neighbor can reach you easily. Whoever is keeping tabs on the home must be aware of who they should notify should there be a problem.
