Home: Bell Alarm Systems
Data about bell alarm systemsIs your house going to be unoccupied for days or weeks while you travel on vacation? That is when your home tends to be susceptible to looters. Here is what to do to deter thieves. * The best deterrant is to have someone stay at your apartment. Having someone stay at home is very likely safer than an unoccupied apartment. Try arranging for a trusted friend or relative to stay at your apartment when you are traveling. * Discontinue your mail delivery and newspaper delivery when the house is empty. A mailbox that is full or newspapers lying around lets passersby know that the home is deserted. * If you maintain potted plants that are visible from the road have them maintained by someone. Or Else move the potted plants away from sight. Plants wilting from lack of water are a clue that nobody is home. * Put lights, tv and radio on timers. Lights in multiple rooms should be on timers. The timings for lights should look natural. For example turn on the living room lights at sunset. At the time you turn in the lights in your living room should be switched off and turn on the bedroom lights. If you turn on tv at 7 pm every day and have it on all evening till bedtime the timer should stick to those times too. Though the lights are on the lack of light from the tv might be enough evidence that the home is empty. * Ask a neighbor to drop in on your home regularly while you are away. Curtains and windows being opened are signs that the home is inhabited. * If you stay in a rented apartment tell the owner that you are going out of town. The landlord may want to watch over the house. * If you use a burglar alarm system ensure that the home sitter is aware of exactly how to operate it. * See that the neighbor or house sitter can contact you. The person watching over the house should be aware of who they should contact should there be a problem.
