If you turn on tv at 7 pm every day and it is always on till you go to bed the timer should stick to those times too. Though the lights may be on the absence of the tv's bluish glow can give a clue that no one is really home.
* Request a neighbor to drop in and check on your house frequently. Windows being opened and closed etc mean that the home is occupied.
* If you live on rent let the landlord know that the apartment will be empty. Your landlord may want to keep tabs on the home.
* If you have installed a security system ensure that the homesitter recognises precisely how to operate it.
* Make certain that the house sitter can reach you easily. The person responsbile for checking into the house should be aware of who they should fill in if there is a problem.
