Locating all star security systems incIs your house going to be empty for days or weeks while you go on a holiday? That is the time your home is vulnerable to burglaries and housebreaks. Here is a bunch of things you can do to make your home less vulnerable. * The best way out is to have a keeper or sitter at home. An apartment where someone is staying is very likely safer than an unoccupied home. Try getting a trusted friend or relative to remain at your apartment when you are traveling. * Discontinue the newspaper and mail delivery when you travel out of town. Unread newspapers and an overflowing mailbox calls attention to the fact that your home is empty. * If you maintain potted plants that are visible from the road get someone to come in and water them. Otherwise keep the potted plants of of sight. Untended plants inform housebreakers that the home is empty. * Use timers to work tv and lights. Timers should be hooked to lights in multiple rooms. The lights should be switched on and off in a natural sequence. At dusk the lights in the living room should be turned on. When you normally hit the sack put out the lights in your living room and the bedroom lights should switch on. If you ordinarily switch on tv at 8 pm everyday and you watch it till 11 pm have the timer set accordingly. Though the lights may be switched on the absence of light from the tv can give away that this is an empty house. * Arrange for a neighbor to come in to your home regularly while you are away. Windows being open now and then are all signs that the home is inhabited. * If you rent the apartment perhaps you can tell your landlord that you will be away. The houseowner may want to keep an eye on it. * If you have an active alarm system make sure the housesitter is familiar with how to use it. * Make it a point to see that you leave your contact details with the neighbor. The person checking on the house must be well aware of who to call should any problems come up.
