Home: Alarm System Window Decals
Notes on alarm system window decalsIs your apartment or home to be unoccupied for a longish time while you vacation out of town? That is when your home is susceptible to burglaries. Here is what you can do to make your home less vulnerable. * The best way out is to have a someone occupying the house. Having someone in is very likely safer than a home or apartment that is unoccupied. Check if you can get a trustworthy friend to hang out at your apartment while you are away. * Stop your newspaper and mail delivery when the apartment is empty. An overflowing mailbox is a sign that the house is unoccupied. * If you maintain potted plants or a garden have them watered by someone. Alternatively shift the potted plants where they are not visible from the road. Plants wilting slowly show that the house is empty. * Use timers on the lights, radio and tv. Put lights in several rooms on timers. The lights should turn on an off in a natural manner. The timer should switch on the living room lights at dusk. Subsequently the living room should have lights off and turn on the bedroom lights. If you normally turn on the tv at 7 pm and it remains on till midnight set your timer to that schedule. Though the lights may be on the absence of the tv's light shining through may indicate to outsiders that this is an empty house. * See if a neighbor can drop in on your apartment on a regular basis. Curtains and windows being opened are signs that the house is not empty. * If you stay in a rented house you may want to notify your landlord that you are going on vacation. The owner may want to check up on it regularly. * If you use any kind of security system make it a point to see that the apartment sitter is familiar with precisely how to operate it. * Make certain that the neighbor can reach you easily. The person checking up on the apartment must be well aware of who to call should any problems come up.
