If you ordinarily switch on tv at 8 pm everyday and keep in on till 11 pm the timer should stick to those times too. The living room light may be on but the tv being off can give a clue that your house is empty.
* Request a neighbor to come in and check out your place often. Windows and curtains being worked convey that the house is occupied.
* If you rent the apartment you might let the landlord know that the apartment will be empty. Your homeowner may want to keep tabs on the home.
* If you have an alarm system installed ensure that the homesitter is comfortable with exactly how to use it.
* See that the house sitter or caretaker can reach you. The person checking up on the apartment must be well aware of who to call should a problem crop up.
